Scheduling Methods and Information Systems Applications for Logistics & Supply Chain (SMALSC 2022)
Short Description and Goals
The importance of logistics and supply chain has risen in the last three years, owing to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, its impact on the production lines and the induced global political instability. Developing optimized applications, information systems and scheduling tools for various logistics is nowadays essential to reduce the operational costs and ensure optimized operation. Such attempts entail considerable challenges, some of which regard the efficient scheduling of transfers, bounding of cost and/or fuel consumption, handling of data workflows, system interfacing, operational scaling, etc.
The purpose of this special track is to bring forward a forum for the joint discussion of such challenges, the design and implementation of practical solutions and the quantification of the benefits that can be obtained by small-medium enterprises involved in targeted logistics and the supply chain transfer section. The track will call for works that address various aspects of IT in logistics and the supply chain and more specifically works addressing topics such as scheduling and information system design. The goal is to create a venue for promoting analytical solutions for such systems, ensuring optimized operation, and at the same time bring together professionals developing practical solutions, in order to share their experiences and exchange knowledge.
A non-exhaustive list of topics of interest is the following.
Track Topics:
- Scheduling techniques for optimizing the supply chain.
- Design of information systems for logistics applications.
- Big data management for logistics information systems.
- Data and knowledge representation approaches for logistics systems and supply chain management.
- Software solutions for scheduling in logistics.
- Software solutions for integrated management of logistics systems.
- Digital transformation of supply chain and logistics services.
- Advances in geographic information systems in logistics and supply chain management.
- Optimization algorithms and technologies for last-mile delivery.

Submission Guidelines
Authors should submit original, unpublished research papers. All papers must not simultaneously be submitted to another journal or conference. There are two types of submissions:
- Full Paper submissions have a maximum of 12 pages.
- Short Paper submissions have a maximum of 6 pages.
Papers and abstracts should be submitted through the main SMAP 2022 submission website in PDF format. Authors should follow the SMAP 2022 formatting as indicated here: https://hilab.di.ionio.gr/smap2022/index.php/submissions/initial-submissions/
By submitting a paper, authors implicitly agree that at least one of them will register to the SMAP 2022 workshop and present the paper. It is expected that at least one author will register for each accepted paper. Only papers that have been presented by their authors during the SMAP 2022 workshop will be published in the workshop’s proceedings.
Extended versions of accepted papers will be considered for publication in the following Special Issue of the Computers journal:
